First Date Tips

These first date tips might be the difference in you getting or not getting a second date. A first date is so important as it sets a precedent regarding who you are and what you are all about. The first date tips in this article are just a guide to keep you on the ball and not to take things too far on the first date or say something you will regret later. Your first date is probably something both of you will remember forever if you both hit it off and stayed together so it’s a good idea to put your best foot forward and at least take the time to ponder over a few first date tips.
First Date Tip 1
Arrive on time. If you are not punctual on a first date this is a sure sign of disrespect and it is not being fashionably late or cool no matter what others might say. It’s better to be early and know where you are picking your date up from than trying to make miserable excuses for why you were late. Besides, if you do arrive early it shows you care about your first date.
First Date Tip 2
Compliment your date to let them feel good about themselves and let them feel comfortable with what they have chosen to wear but don’t overdo the compliment. Say a few kind words and then don’t mention it again, you don’t want to appear desperate.
First Date Tip 3
Plan a simple first date that will be relatively short, about 2-3 hours should be enough. If you did happen to really hit it off you could always extend it if the situation arose but by keeping it short and simple it doesn’t put any unwanted pressure on either of you before you get to know one another better.
First Date Tip 4
Of all the first date tips, this one is extremely important although many people might not think of it. Have a back up plan just in case your original plan falls apart. If the restaurant you thought would always be open and never too busy just happens to be shut or has a function on that night you may need to go to your plan B. If it’s been great weather lately and you plan an outdoor date and it starts raining you might get more than just wet after your date is not impressed at your choice of outdoor locations without shelter or an umbrella.
First Date Tip 5
Don’t drink too much or maybe you might get a little carried away and do or say something that you might wish you hadn’t. If possible avoid drinking altogether, there’s plenty of time for that once you are better acquainted.
First Date Tip 6
Give your date a little bit of insight into what type of date you will be going on before you pick them up on your first date so you can both agree on a dress code beforehand. No point getting all dressed up if you’re planning on a date at the beach.
First Date Tip 7
Spend more time listening than talking. Everybody loves to talk about themselves and you don’t want to get carried away by doing all the talking.
First Date Tip 8
Never under any circumstances talk about your ex partners, nothing can pour cold water on a date like listening to someone talk about their ex, be it good or bad things they are saying. This topic should probably be off limits permanently but certainly on a first date it can never help your chances of getting a second date.
First Date Tip 9
Don’t talk about money whether you have money or not. It’s an uncomfortable topic for many people to talk about and it’s something that shouldn’t be an issue on your first date.
First Date Tip 10
No matter how your date turned out, show the utmost respect to your date for sharing their time with you even if you both know there will not be another date. If the date turned out well you don’t need to be hasty in organizing another one but let your date know you enjoyed their company and let things evolve on their own.
